Burda Style For people who sew

My husband and I originally intended to take some photos for our wedding album in a few weeks’ time, but we suddenly stumbled upon a fun fair an hour away from where we lived and decided that we wanted to take a couple of shots there because we just loved the colours and lights and the silly charm of the characters…. Only problem was that I didn’t have a nice white dress to wear, let alone any gown. And the fun fair had 1 more week before they uproot and leave :-(
I pored over Burdastyle and decided it was time to try making a Danielle (more so after seeing so many beautiful and successful creations). Like many, I omitted the sleeves and shortened the hem (into a bubble hemmish thing) since it’s summer all year long in Malaysia and I’m pretty short :P
To be a bit matchy-match, I made a tie for my husband (in a really unorthodox way— I would be stoned by tie-makers if I said how) and also a sash for myself in a salmon-pinkish hue.
There is also a cutout of a heart keyhole at the back of the dress.
I wish I chose a better material for the dress, because the fitting turned out great. Well, nevermind, lesson learnt! :P

wow thanks, i’m overwhelmed by all your nice comments and encouragement! _ wedding pictures in our culture are usually glamorous and elegant, but my husband and i are just a bunch of kids at heart so yeah.. i’m floored that u guys actually like the photos too :")

How did you do that cut-out heart? was it difficult?

heya thanks! :D it was my first time doing a cut out, and i think there were things i could’ve done better to help the finishing look nicer… so i’m trying to experiment with other ways now… gimme some time to figure it out, if i can’t think of a better way i’ll post up a tutorial on the way i know best k!
and Danielle is an awesome pattern to me, the bodice is nice and i think it’ll be adaptable for you to make variations too!
