Description

Disclaimer: The sleeves are the same length! I have no idea why I didn’t have them in same place for the photos!

My first attempt at knitwear! I decided that I was severely limiting myself by being such a chicken about sewing with knit fabric. I used Butterick 5454, which came together really quickly. I still learned a lot though: next time I’ll raise the neckline, and I’ll probably sew a little snap on the bodice of this dress so that it won’t be quite so va-va-voom, but really, I love the fit!

I made a little dress out of this same fabric! It’s so beautiful in a wrap style dress! I should take shots and add them too. I hope that you didn’t wash it yet, because it should be dry cleaned. It fades and pills slightly…

I love the simple wrap shape and the bright colours of your dress. I understand your fear of knit fabrics, I have the same. I guess it comes from the fact that I only have a regular sewing machine. How did you make yours? With a regular machine or a serger?

Just a regular old machine! I did double zig-zag seams and that seems to work out just right.

This looks wonderful, and you look beautiful in it! Knits are not hard, but just take a different set of skills. Raising necklines and putting in snaps are common for this type of style…I sometimes just wear a cami which peeks out.

i really like this fabric. i steered away from knits for a good while too, but realized they aren’t as daunting as they seem. you did a nice job!
