This is a pencil skirt made with Vogue 2629. I really love this pattern as it provides a great very flattering and wearable skirt, and the jacket is really neat too!
This skirt has a raised waist with the front scooped slightly. There are 4 darts in the front and 4 in the back. I used an invisible zippper. The skirt is only slightly tapered in and the back has a box pleat (I think that’s what it is called), and as a result it is very easy to walk, climb stairs etc in this skirt. It is also fully lined.
I used a remnant upholstery brocade that I found in my Mum’s fabric chest. Lovely to sew with (although frays like crazy) and great for creating a smoothing effect when worn – no vpl! The colour is hard to describe a kind of muted pink and gold-ish pattern. The photo is reasonably representative.
