Description

I bought this very tatty, but sturdy sofa from a local charity shop and decided to recycle it. I loved this brocade fabric when I saw it in my local fabric shop at £3.00 per metre (a great bargain!) and some piping cord and here’s the end result.

This is the first re-upholstery I have done, so there are little flaws, but I loved it and I might have to do my other sofa now (even though it doesn’t need it yet :-)).

Material Notes

12 metres of fabric, 20 metres of piping cord, thread

Absolutely beautiful! Did you use a pattern, or did you use the green cover as your pattern pieces? My sofa needs a major overhaul, and am looking for ideas, as I’ve never re-upholstered anything before, and I’m a little nervous to try.

Thank you. I actually draped the fabric on the sofa and cut it from there. The cushinos were easy. You just measure the size and sort of copy the pattern of the old ones. Good luck and have fun.

this is really really well done. and it is so difficult to do an upholstery job in such a nice way. i am truely impressed and sure, that you are going to love your "new"sofa very much. have fun with it and lots of lovely days!

Oh my, it looks beautiful!!! It looks so much better than that green one (even when it was new, I can bet! ;-)). It even makes the couch look more comfortable and definitely is much easier on the eye!

Oh, this is gorgeous! I would have never guessed that it isnt the original cover – unless your one looks much better :-) You made a Laura Ashley like sofa out of one that looked like from a cheap furniture outlet… Respect!
