Description

This shift dress is made mostly of old curtains. It is based on the 1960’s Retro Simplicity Pattern no 3833 – with a couple of changes.

I should probably call it ‘My Anniversary Dress’ because I wore it yesterday when my husband and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary. This is also the reason why the flowers are in the photo. My always lovely and thoughful mother in law brought us these calla lilys – this was the only flower I had in my wedding bouquet. Isn’t she a sweetheart?

I’ve brought life to the old curtains before. Last summer I made Wilma a curtain-dress. Hope it still fits – then we have ourselves a new mother/daughter outfit :-)

You look like a pop art icon there. Nice job! What did the husband think of it :-))?

Thanks, Irina. My husband, well – I think he likes it (eventhough he doesn’t always get my taste in clothes ;-)

groovy :) great use for old curtains. especially like the colors and the print. i would maybe forget the tights – that green isn´t very flattering, try without, I´m sure you have great legs too. I´ve allready seen here a lot of really great dresses and skirts made out of old curtains and table cloth etc. I think I need to go to a thrift store to look for some lace curtains to make an evening gown :))

Haven’t thought about the tights. I feel best wearing tights under my dresses, but perhaps I should choose another color?!

This is funkytabulous! I especially love the upcycling. I am always thrifting for old sheets to use in making dresses. they have the best patterns and feel so soft; it’s great! hope you wear this for your 10th, 15th, 20th……..
