Burda Style For people who sew
Description
The pattern of this skirt is hardly a pattern, it’s just a rectangular piece of fabric, with the length being twice your waist circumference. The width of your fabiric will be the length of the skirt. The skirt closes with a zipper, because the smocked waistband is not elastic. The waistband is the special part of this skirt, for a full smocking explanation/tutorial either take a look at my blog or at the technique I added.
I you want to make a similar skirt, I would recommend you to put the zipper in first and then start the smocking. I did it the other way around because I was too curious about the end result, but starting with the zipper is easier.

I used a simple cotton, but it can be any other fabric you think will work.

Simple yet elegant skirt! I loved the photos. You must have spotted such an atmospheric place in Den Haag. Perspective and the evening light in the first snapshot looks stunningly beautiful :-)
