I was wanting a pair of front-pleated pegged 80’s style trousers – and Marilyn fit the bill! I chose to make mine in a brushed cotton twill in a bright coral hue. I found after finishing that there is a bit too much fabric in the front of the legs for them to be completely flattering on my shape…perhaps stitching down the pleats will help?

Thanks for looking!:-D

They look cute. The pleats may soften after you wash the garment a few times. If you don’t want this pattern to hold much shape in the pleats, try a fabric with more drape. In testing a fabric, try folding some pleats along the grain line you plan to use, then hold the fabric up to see how it flows. Squish the pleats onto a table or the like and see what happens. Move it around. This will let you know a lot about the fabric.

Hmm, I’m wanting something similar but I too am afraid of the extra front-butt volume… Thanks for the write-up— yours looks super cute on you in the pictures! I wonder if I could measure the pattern itself and try to draft some of the ease out? Kind of defeats the point of using a pattern. sigh I’m just gonna do it!

Thanks peachypanda! I feel like corals, reds, and oranges are the IT colors for Spring…and pushed myself far out of my comfort level to sew a pair of pants in coral! But I also found out I really like the bright!!:-)
