It is beautiful. The color, the fabric – so elegant. I love the details of the ruffles and the V-shape at the back. What a pretty dress!! Did you use a pattern? What is a pattern maker…?

Hi, thanks for the comments. I love the colour too. The pattern maker was the clever lady who looked at the pic and made the pattern in my size.

I love the back details, and the colour. It’s super pretty and not too bridesmaid:ey but very bridesmaid-appropriate, perfect!

I agree, the detail on the back is gorgeous! Did you use a pattern?

I had a pettern maker draw the pattern for me. It’s drawn freehand. Not sure how I would go about scanning it and uploading it. Loads of peices too!

thanks for all the comments. Has anyone had experience with ruching? I cut all the pieces that needed to be ruched on the bias, but as I was attaching the ruched chiffon to the lining there seemed to be too much fabric and it sagged instead of sitting snug to the lining. I had to remove a lot of chiffon and I think that next time I wouldn’t cut it on the bias. Does anyone agree or offer advice?

Fabric cut on the bias will usually grow a bit, sometimes up to a couple of inches! Especially with something flowy like chiffon. I would either avoid cutting rouching pieces on the bias, or hang your fabric up on the bias overnight before cutting to allow it to get all the growth out first.
Your dress still turned out beautifully though, all the detailing is really striking! It’s very similar to the color my bridesmaids wore :-).

We do this at lot at work, bias ruching across bodices. We always cut our ruching on the bias or it seldom drapes very well. My boss likes to sort of hand place the ruching across the piece it’s being attached to flat on the table and do teeny tiny little invisible stitches to keep the ruching in place against gravity where she wants it.
