Blocked felt cocktail hat with velvet flowers on a bound wire stem. I added millinery elastic and stitched the flowers on – they’re quite heavy but the felt has two blocked ridges on the crown, the flowers sat in the lower ridge quite nicely. Couch-stitched at intervals on the bound wire stem.
Made for a friend’s wedding, worn with Butterick 5209 1947 dress in black bird and branch cotton print.
I have written about this in the following “blog entry”: http://kirtlehomespun.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/ill-wear-it-proudly.html
“Coffee Bean” felt shape from Macculloch and Wallis (unlined).
