Black jacket I made my boyfriend for christmas. my first time making menswear—-i really liked it! i was stressed about the fit, having just blindly guessed at sizing, but turned out fitting great……and he wears it alot, so thats a big compliment in itself!
I used a Burda pattern, I changed it from a notch collar to a stand up collar, eliminated side flaps and changed the detail on the sleeve.
Material Notes
heavy black cotton that discolored after wash but decided to go with that ‘look’, charcoal cotton lining, and red cotton for inside welt pocket :)

Hello! I’m kind of new here. I love the jacket. My boyfriend always asks me to do things for him, since it’s always for the kids and me. Just wandering… did anybody bought the patterns from www.sewing.patternreview.com? I want to download this one, but as it is my first time, I want to double check with somebody else that everything is fine, before I give in all my credit card details. Great jacket – I am getting frustrated with mine as the collar is playing games (arghhhh) I’ve only ripped it out four times! Love your big pockets, the red inner pocket and chunky buttons. You have made it look all so easy.

The jacket itself is amazing (my boyfriend is drooling over it) but more than that, I’m amazed at your vision! After I saw the jacket, I looked up the Burda pattern that you modified— I would never have seen the potential in it for something so hip. Fantastic!
