Since I was little girl I wanted tartan pleated skirt but never had one. All the other girls had them, but not me! :’(
I finally stumbled upon this black tartan fabric and few tutorials on the Internet and – skirt was sewn!
Skirt is made up of two parts:
1. upper, black fabric (no waistband, zipper, two darts in the front and back)
2. pleated part, tartan fabric.
There are two box pleats on the front and on the back. I put only two because I didn’t want to add more width to the hips.
Skirt is not hemmed, because I incorporated fabric selvage at the bottom.
black part is wool-poly blend;
tartan is thicker fabric, also wool-poly blend, but I think there is more polyester than wool.

This looks great! :D I’m trying to figure out how to make a similar skirt myself and you have inspired me to give it a go!

congratulations on making childhood dreams come true! The skirt is really cute, I am a sucker for short skirts and tights!
