Bow Tie (With button adjustment)

I made this bow tie out of an old men’s dress shirt I got from the thrift store for about 4 dollars. I really liked the color. I decided to give this bow tie patten a try. However i couldn’t find the adjustable clasp the David Pattern called for, so I decided to make it adjustable using button holes. After step 7 on the David instructions, I finished the ends on both pieces with the serger. I then added 5 button wholes to the longest piece and added 1 button on the shortest piece. I think it came out pretty well for a first try. Hope you like.

This came out really good. I like the personalized button as well.

Would Velcro work as the adjuster, or is there a drawback?

Velcro might work. I used a button adjustment because that was all i had. I say give it a try.

Oh yea, I couldn’t find those clasps any where so i just made my David a full one piece (just made the middle section my neck size) Didn’t work out too well. I will definitely try this button thing.

    Thanks for the idea!
