I made this skirt using Simplicity 8664 View B. The pattern has been OOP for a long time. I snag it from my mother’s stash. It’s a simple skirt, but I added a little twist to bring it up to trend, an exposed zipper. I know several sewing ancestors who would shudder to think of an exposed zipper, the audacity! I am loving this new trend, as I think it adds a bit of edge to a “boring” skirt, and makes it look less homemade. The pattern calls for a 7" regular zipper, but this 6" metal zipper was already lying around. It’s a bit snug when I wiggle it past my hips to get the skirt on, but fits totally fine once on. I am on the more pear-shaped side anyway, so shortening the zip probably wasn’t the smartest choice, c’est la vie. Another alteration was to do a machine blind hem, which is, truly blind! Yay! My first blind hem. (Also my first zipper installation, but not nearly so pretty on the inside)
Remnants from another project.
