The name says it all… I revived an old dress which would now be over 13 years old, I wore this dress throughout my three pregnancies and couldn’t bare to throw it out even though it had many holes and the lycra was losing some of its shape!! The original dress had antique gold lycra as the base with a sheer stretch floral fabric, not sure what this is made from. My leggings are shorter than the pattern, due to insufficient fabric. Must say this pattern is wonderful, so easy and definitely worth the download.
Bottom layer is lycra, guessing the top is a sheer stretch elastine (?)

These are so nice! I haven’t been a fan of leggings, but I’m starting to come round to the idea. Your version are screaming to me ‘YES! Leggings can look AMAZING’! It’s so nice that you have upcycled them from an existing garment that has nice memories for you, it would be a shame to let those go.

Thanks for the story on the leggings. I admired them when looking at your skirt project. I’m amazed that they were made from an old dress. The are really lovely.
Guess what? Elastane, Lycra® and spandex are pretty much the same thing. Lycra® is the original fabric, developed by DuPont. The others are later generations of the stretch fiber, just made by different companies.

if there were a best upcycle contest you would win hands down!
…..saw these under the skirt you have listed and though “great leggings wonder where she bought those” thought they were probably designer. nice work, and I like the shorter length too goes well with the fabric and looks great on you!

Thanks, I only decided on making the leggings to go with the skirt at last minute, that’s how quick and easy this pattern is, there’s only 1 piece in the pattern and took about 40 mins to cut and make!

Thanks, I’d love to take the credit for the body, but the model is my 13 year old daughter in these images. I don’t do leggings alone, need something to cover my bum!!

Looks great on you! I like this asymmetrical pattern. I wish to make one of these, not sure how it would be without using a serger, thou.

brilliant! very trendy and yet sentimental. And what is that base color? does it have a tinge of gold? It looks like a fun neutral.. I think I may steal some inspiration from you
