this is my bombshell dress from gertie’s class on craftsy – and my first burdastyle project! yay!
the fabric is a cotton/rayon blend by marc jacobs that i bought from mood.com. its beige with small red, purple and blue flowers woven into it. its fairly heavy, which made gathering the skirt on this dress a bit tricky!
i loved making this dress and really delved into the hand sewing and the couture touches. while it is far from perfect, i am pleased as punch with the result. the boning, bust padding, and lapped zipper were all new techniques to me, and i’m happy to have had the occasion to try my hand at it.

3 yards of fabric – marc jacobs from mood (i have a ton left over!), muslin (for underlining), silk organza (i used it for the boning channels), cotton batiste (as a lining), spiral steel boning, regular zipper, twill tape, buttons (for my straps), petersham waist stay, grosgrain zipper guard… and i think thats it!

Massive bombshell! I adore your version of this dress, and the fabric is wonderful too. I really need to get off my butt and finish my version. So. Many. Muslins.
