As you all know, shantung’s beauty is that it often sports two different threads that bind together to make a unique shiny colour. I chose what my boyfriend came to call “Bollywood Barbie”. My name is Barbara, and I worked in advertising in India so, for my collegue’s wedding, I was going to be Bollywood Barbie.
The dress was fairly simple, though my mother helped me alter the neck and did the lining. I felt insanely pretty and even made a bag to match.
The model is from an old Burda issue (cannot remember which) in which the dress was made in two layers, the top emboidered, overall white. Very pretty. We changed the neckline and made the shoulders a little larger.
Shantung silk in "Bollywood Pink".
