When I saw this material in the shop just before Xmas, I knew it would be perfect for a winter coat and so I bought 2 metres of it. Once at home the search for a pattern started and I found a lovely one in the 2011 january magazine (short coat no. 138/01/2011). The pattern called for a few techniques that were new to me and it took me a little while to figure it all out (collar, concealed buttons) but I got there in the end, though no thanks to my lazy assistant :-)))

ohhh yes, my cat loves eating paper ! She made us all laugh at xmas, because she had a right go at some of the presents we left under the tree :-)) Such funny creatures, aren’t they ??
Back to the coat: I had never used boiled wool before and it was a dream to work with compared to some of the slinky jerseys ! so easy to cut and sew, an absolute pleasure. Also to wear, very warm and even though I was a bit worried at first that it might be too stiff, I think after wearing it a few times it has become quite loose and comfy. Me too I loved the print on it, I think that makes it look a bit more interesting. They had it in a white, olive green and blue and I am glad I chose the blue, easier to match than the green and def. easier to keep clean than white.
I can only recommend this material, if you ever come across it , don’t hesitate !
thanks for your comment ! XXX
