I wanted to use this vintage egyptian cotton floral to make a romantic robe, but couldn’t find a simple pattern to use as a base. I decided to use McCall’s 5233 which is intended to be a wrap top. I followed about 80% of the instructions, but modified it to add the romantic details: instead of the sleeve trim, I added the contrast fabric four times as long and tripled around the cuff with pleats; I mirrored that detail on the hem, and then added 5 rows of gratuitous pleated ruffles on the back piece. The result? A very comfortable, yet flattering lounge around the house and eat bon-bons outfit.
