Okay, I know it’s summer right now but I simply just hadn’t had time to upload this. I can’t even remember when I sewed this but I think it was in January, maybe. This doesn’t matter anyways, does it?
Again, I used the Butterick 5145 (who would have guessed??) but this time I didn’t modify it at all. Well, if you ignore the fact that i had to gather the sleeves a little bit. Is it just me or is it rather difficult to get the perfect fit in terms of sleeves/armholes?
I just looove it :)

Hello, sorry for the delay in answering. A sleeve header is a strip of felt, batting, or similar material which is sewn to the coat/sleeve seamline after the shoulder pad is attached. It should extend slightly pas the end of the seam allowance. It is most commonly used in heavier coats, men’s suit coats and sportswear jackets. I will try to find you instructions for this technique. BTW, makers of better women’s gowns, bridal wear, dresses, and blouses use a strip of stiffened voile or chiffon to support a full capped sleeve. I will PM when I find what I remember downloading,( just not where I put it.)

You have a handsome coat, even if the weather is against your wearing it. About the sleeve caps, yep it is one of the touchier steps in constructing any garment for the upper body. What do you use as a sleeve header? Perhaps you could try a slightly wider/heavier strip. Nehmah

Beautiful coat! Schade, dass du ihn jetzt nicht tragen kannst.
