I made this leotard for an aerial hoop competition. Didn’t place but I had so much fun. My wonderful teacher covered us all in glitter and gave us chocolate for energy :)
The pattern and design are my own.
Sewing these sequins… omg. This fabric… I was really regretting buying it while sewing. Needles were breaking and flying into my face so I ended up sewing with sunglasses on to protect my eyes. Tip: choose round sequins. These ones are square and have pointy corners which poked into my legs around the legholes. Spent a lot of time unpicking all the sequins from the edges.
I hand sewed on some bra cups from an old bikini. It has flesh coloured fabric at the top and is lined in black fabric. I made my slippers too.
At the end of the comp we all had to get up on stage. Only a week or so earlier they told us we had to wear a long dress (!!!). I didn"t want to spend time/money on a long dress I’d wear once so I just safety pinned some fabric around my waist as a skirt :D See the last pic.
There is a video of the comp: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtAQpHtGZZU
