Brooklyn, New Yo...
Royal blue party dress made to wear to the wedding of my college roommate in Nova Scotia.
I made a size 14, based on my over bust measurement and then did a full bust modification that consisted of slashing and spreading from the CF to bust point, through the shoulder, and to the lower side seams. I added another pleat to the center front to accommodate the extra fabric. The extra pleat was below the original one which had the added benefit of lowering the bust point which is good since I am 5’10", not 5’6". Some people mentioned on patternreview that this dress is very low cut on the sides and front, but since I am tall this wasn’t a terrible on me, although I made sure to wear a pretty black bra that I didn’t mind showing a tad.
I love that this dress has pockets and that it is such an unusual shape. It was a little bit of a puzzle to put together, but I had a lot of fun.
Silk Taffeta, silk charmuese, silk cotton batiste, silk organza. I bought a lot of the fabrics on sale on 39th street in the NYC garment district. All the fabric and thread ended up costing me under $40.
