My outfit for my cousins wedding. I made the blouse, underskirt and the pouch. The blouse is fully lined with pre-washed cotton, the blouse fabric came withe saree, and i am not able to figure out what fabric it is. Some sort of blend, silk and polyester??? I made a back open blouse for the first time. the front portion is cut on bias. the buttons on the back are fabric covered beads, i added two hooks for added strength. bras straps with snap fasteners. Blouse is a pain to get into by myself but i can still manage by putting all the buttons from front and turning it all the way to the back so that the opening goes to the back. Then slipping one arm at a time n squeezing myself into it. Easier if somebody helps by putting the buttons threw the loops for me ;-). The tucks are a bit off in the blouse but wearable(will correct it soon) The underskirt i made with satin, cut on bias with one triangular piece in the centre front bottom. Since the saree is full net i wanted to hide the underskirt tie in the front below the pleats. I chose the lighter shade of blue from the top half of the saree so that the color difference is visible. hope that ws the right choice, I think if I chose the darker shade the saree being net, and the lighter shade on top would not have been visible. The pouch i made by cutting circles n attaching the embroidered border. For the base I inserted a circle cutout and made little pockets which i dont think are functional(got the idea from some item i saw somewhere on the internet). I made it to be reversible, silver on the outside and dark blue on the inside with satin lined little pockets, but the little pockets stick out so i will have to use the silver on the outside. I still have to add few thingys to the end of the pouch drawstrings. I used leftover material from the blouse and underskirt to made the pouch. Because net sarees are tricky to wear,I also stitched the pleats, front Pleats I stitched few inches vertically down and the pleats that go over the shoulder are hand tacked to keep them together. then i pin it to the blouse at the desired length.
satin, polyester, blend
