I grew up in Lithuania, one of the former countries of the Soviet Union. Back then there was no selection for clothes, especially for original clothing. The pelt of a fox was one of the fanciest things to wear but it was very expensive and hard to get. My mom was lucky though because my dad was a hunter and a great supplier of fox pelts for her. I remember how adorable my mom looked with them and I always had a dream that I’d grow up and be able to wear something like that! Well, times have changed and fox pelts look kind of… freaky but from a memory of my old dream I made this faux fox pelt. It reminds me of my childhood a lot and I’m very happy to wear it.

This is cute, and I like the way it can button to itself, like in the last picture. I might have to make one myself, ^ ^

Sweet idea :), speaking in behalf of all those foxes (my grandfather is a hunter, too, so I also know the whole story about dead animals around the neck :|). I would choose bloody red, but this blue color is nice too :)

your story is very inspiring!!! and now knowing it, it makes sense that you’re so inspired to make such fun and original clothing as you didn’t have options when you were younger. i suppose that is what has made your imagination soar above most of us to make some really one of a kind pieces. and how wonderful that you’ve gone cruelty free in these new times with your cute blue version, but i can imagine what a fox pelt meant to you and your mom and even your dad for being able to provide it for her. i’m glad it brings you happy memories of your childhood!!!

Oh, I love it (and your sense of style)! I have a fox, the real deal, from my grandmother, it’s SO dear to me (my little friend), but I agree it’s a bit freaky. I’ve worn it to a glammy masquerade and it was the favourite guest (it wandered off and the other guests took turns photographing themselves in it). And I won a prize for best costume. Good interpretation, totally animal-activist-friendly!
