I was given some blue jersey fabric for free!! so thinking ahead to summer ….
I drafted princess seams into the sadie top pattern and added a scoop neckline. The bottom half is a bubble pleat skirt – which I’ve wanted to try for a while!

Love this. This blue is popular this season it appears! This looks great on you and the pleats look perfectly spaced! Does look like a dress! Unstopable! Pinksunflower x

Hey guys thanks for the comments!! LOL it’s quite funny cos everyone thinks this is a dress! it is two parts actually but as soon as I made it i thought it would look good as a dress too!. For the skirt- I didn’t make a pattern- i had to calculate how many pleats I could get in for my waist size and check that the fabric width would also allow me to create enough pleats…erm it was sort of trial and error- but I will try and make a pattern or explain better from the notes I made while making it soon…
It wasn’t suppose to be a bubble skirt but when I finished the original skirt with the pleats, the hem looked so boring but the waist looked good so I made a smaller skirt to go underneath (making sure the length and width was shorter than the top skirt and attached this to the top skirt and to the waist band – just like how polychromatin explained above!

What an amazing dress! Everything looks so good: the colour on you (and against the background), the alterations you made….
And I have to echo Polychromatin and taffetasilk: how do you do a bubble skirt?

lovely, i like your variation of sadie a lot and i love the pleated bubble skirt :D
how did you do the bubble skirt?
Jan 25, 2009, 03.48 AMby Polychromatin
Oh girl, I don’t know what to say … it looks gorgeous! I love the pleats! I’m not sure how to do those bubble skirts correctly, the skirt is in the end has a double layer, am I right? So you fold the bottom and sew it into the waistband? (was that understandable?)
