I found this fabric recently at the thrift store and had a hard time deciding on what to make since it was such a small piece, but this is what I finally came up with. The fabric is thin so I bought bright blue silk from the fabric store to use as a lining. I made up the pattern as I went along starting with my favorite t-shirt as a guide for the neckline. I put buttons on the straps to make the design a bit more interesting.

that is SO CUTE! i tried making this, and I failed :( miserably. so the top and the bottom are made of different pieces? if you remember, could you tel me the measurements of the rectangles? and did you gather that with elastic thread?

Sorry guys, but I didn’t use a pattern for this dress. The top is pretty much just a basic tank which I modeled after a shirt that fits the way I like. The skirt portion was made from two wide rectangular pieces of fabric which I then gathered to match up with the top. Hope that helps a bit.
