The color of this dress is actually a very dark blue, it took me several days to find out if it was black or blue! I used pattern 109 from Burdastyle 1/2010, but made several changes: 3/4length widened sleeves, left out the pintucks, and made the skirt fuller and with more pleats in the back. And I made a handpicked, centered back zipper (I find that back zippers are much more comfortable than zippers at the side). For the zipper, I followed Susan Khalje’s instructions of her Craftsy online class, and I have to say that for me this is so far the nicest (and easiest zipper) I ever put in a garment!
I find that the dress, although very comfortable, looks a bit plain on me, so I tried to spice it up with some coloured tights. If you have another idea, please write a comment, I’m thankful for any hints!
