Blue 20's dress

Added Sep 24, 2012

by Chez Louise

Paris, France

This is the godet dress from Burda 07/12. I made it for a birthday which theme was: the 30s (my friend had 30, that’s why).
The fabric is a blue crepe quite easy to sew.
The size was too big.

Every time harder to write in English… every time shorter.

Material Notes

blue crepe

It does look to big in the back. I always make a mock pattern first out of muslin. I baste this together and then fit the muslin on myself. I then draw the hem lines on the muslin fabric, take the basting out and use these pattern pieces for the regular fabrics. I know this sounds time consuming, but you’ll get much better results!

It’s a really pretty dress! If I was to make one I would use stretch jersey and give it an updated feel.

Thanks Laurelle, I do that now… and don’t always trust on Burda’s measures.
