this is just stunning- i would love to make this pattern. i really love the lace up back, which matches fabric choice brilliantly. maybe you could design patterns while waiting for the next step whatever that happens to be?

I need to practice more drawing flats, although that is a good idea!

I only used a pattern for the top, and I cut it in half.
      Simplicity #2966

      The skirt I did myself.
      I made a muslin mock-up first.

This is beautiful, and a great first garment! I never went to fashion school so don’t know what kind of thing they look for in applicants, but don’t give up, you’ve got talent. I guess there can be a lot of competition for some places so the selection process is tough. But there are always other places to apply for and there’s always next year – giving you a whole year to gain more experience. Maybe you can get some useful tips from others here who’ve studied fashion to figure out what they look for in a portfolio :-)

Thank you so much for this!

I was kind of down about it for a while, but after uploading my projects and getting a good response, and reading this comment I feel better! I’m definitely going to try it, and also just keep sewing :]
