This is what I made on Saturday. It took me the whole afternoon to sew it, but luckily I got it finished just in time, and wore it in the evening.
I’ve also made the headpiece by myself.
No pattern was used.

Headpiece: white cotton, pearls, lace, satin ribbon and a tiny cameo.

I was inspired by a dress I saw in a blog called Sally Jane Vintage (http://sallyjanevintage.blogspot.com/2007/09/i-found-this-dress-at-fairfax-flea.html)

Gorgeous dress, the bow is really fun & playful at the back – no need for jewellery with it there :)
If anyone find a pattern like this dress please post up a link for everyone to see (I’ve been hunt the internet all over for hours & cannot find anything to buy that’s similar).

To quote Maryy…. inspired by a dress I saw in a blog called

Sally Jane Vintage. The dress from the blog was a vintage garment (the picture below is the picture from blogspot)…
… and this is the picture of the pattern that the blogger later purchased (by McCalls 8332 from circa 1968-69)…
Having searched on the web for ages I’ve finally managed to purchase a used/cut copy of this pattern (yippee!). It’s several szies too small for me – so I shall have a have a really goo try at grading it up to my size. Gulp! – I’ve never graded anything before… but there’s lots of information on the internet so I can have lots of fun trying :)

This dress is def Audrey Hepburn, just like redmage0011 says. I think you MUST post the How To… :) It is your duty to help make the world a more fashionable place!

I love this dress. Please tell me you’re a professional! You have a very scandinavian style. I moved to Copenhagen a few years ago and really love all the scandinavian brands (like Modstrom). Awesome to see that you can make this stuff yourself and donm’t have to spend a zillion kroners…. Looking forward to what you’ll sew next!

i really really love this dress! any way you could give some pointers or how to’s for cutting and sewing the open back? i’m now on a hunt for that old pattern (the blogger from your link found a copy on ebay!!)… i’m not an advanced sewer but maybe i could find a pattern with a skirt and front where i could add/sew this type of open back?
