This is what I made on Saturday. It took me the whole afternoon to sew it, but luckily I got it finished just in time, and wore it in the evening.
I’ve also made the headpiece by myself.
No pattern was used.
Dress: a bit elastic, black fabric and buttons
Headpiece: white cotton, pearls, lace, satin ribbon and a tiny cameo.
Novice
I was inspired by a dress I saw in a blog called Sally Jane Vintage (http://sallyjanevintage.blogspot.com/2007/09/i-found-this-dress-at-fairfax-flea.html)

Gorgeous dress, the bow is really fun & playful at the back – no need for jewellery with it there :)
If anyone find a pattern like this dress please post up a link for everyone to see (I’ve been hunt the internet all over for hours & cannot find anything to buy that’s similar).

To quote Maryy…. inspired by a dress I saw in a blog called

Sally Jane Vintage. The dress from the blog was a vintage garment (the picture below is the picture from blogspot)…
… and this is the picture of the pattern that the blogger later purchased (by McCalls 8332 from circa 1968-69)…
Having searched on the web for ages I’ve finally managed to purchase a used/cut copy of this pattern (yippee!). It’s several szies too small for me – so I shall have a have a really goo try at grading it up to my size. Gulp! – I’ve never graded anything before… but there’s lots of information on the internet so I can have lots of fun trying :)
