I wanted a black dress for a Hen do and I really love the Gertie; however the fabric I used was not super stretchy so the waistband is a bit wider to accommodate that.
I also had to wrestle with the neckline, the final one is probably the 5th or 6th! I found the collar didn’t suit me (thanks to my stumpy neck) and so had to figure out how to make it compliment that and my rather wide shoulders, and find a way to put it all together so it would all go over my head.
It all worked out quite well though, and I’m rather happy – this is my second sewing project and despite all the trouble I really enjoyed it (most of the time).
Most of the images were taken after the Hen night and the dress is a rather creased and I’m apparently to lazy to iron it! The first image is during the night itself :)
Stretchy satin-esque fabric
