Description

I found this pattern in Burdastyle’s 6/2013 issue #128. It’s two dresses but it’s really easy effort in making each one. I did take in the bodice portion another 5/8 of an inch because it was a bit too blousy but that’s about it. The elastic makes it nice to just pull over your head and go!

I used a light polyester fabric and I’m glad I did because I like the way it flows and it’s lightweight enough for the hot summer days.
I will definitely make more of this pattern.

Material Notes

2 yards of polyester for dress, 2 yards of lining for underdress, 3/4 inch elastic

hi:-) Burda says in the pattern that you could wear either of the dress or underdress on it’s own, but do you think if i just made the outer dress , then the armhole might be a bit too low to wear without the underdress?

many thanks and love your project:-)

Thank you! I tried wearing without the underdress and the armholes weren’t really my concern. It was the front neckline. It seemed a bit low. However, you can always wear a tank top and that will easily fix your problem for both the neckline and the armholes. Best of luck!

So pretty! I’m in the process of making this dress too, and I noticed it was pretty large in the top as well. Love how yours came out!

Thank you very much. I’m already looking for fabric to make the next one. It’s one of my favorite Burda patterns.

Thanks Mary! You know I just realized when I made this dress how certain fabrics will affect the way a dress flows. I’ve used heavier cotton with an elastic waist and it just seems to add more bulk and looks less flattering.
