I love this coat! This is definitely the most ambitious thing I’ve made yet. The pattern is great. It fits really well. The most difficult thing was figuring out how to do the lining (I found an article on the web about how to “bag a lining” and that worked out great because it was almost all done by machine). I didn’t do patch pockets I put pockets in the side seams. I skipped some of the details because it was hard to make small pieces and topstitch around the curves using the wool I chose. Now that it’s truly cold I can’t wear this coat but I’ll be living in it again when March rolls around. I can’t wait to try to make another coat!

Thank you. I got the boots last year in New York around 13th St. & Broadway. They are Merrell brand and very comfortable.

Lovely coat and great link for bagging linings – I’d been told about it but not really clearly and the link will help me out. Wish I’d looked here before lining my velvet jacket which I made about the same time!

Thank you everyone- it is so great to have such feedback! The best thing about making a coat is that it’s something you wear all the time. The wool wasn’t hard to sew at all with a new sharp needle.
