After I saw Nahwunders party top a while ago I wanted to make a similar top with buttons on the straps, so here is the result. I used leftover fabric from the black Marie dress. I more or less just had a rectangle of fabric and a few scraps which I turned into the straps. I wanted to make the top to be more of a bowl shape there are two pleats on the hemline. The pleats which feature on the top and hemline are simply box pleats that are used on the Marie skirt. And to finish it off a couple of buttons from an old coat. I really like the result and so I think I may try and produce a proper simple pattern so I can make another one and maybe a dress version too!
