I saw someone wearing a cute black dress with sort of pleats at the front and I wanted to make one! however I didn’t want to bother with zippers, buttons or slits at the hemline (lazy, I know) I just wanted something that I could throw on for work or dress up at other times. The bodice is from a vintage pattern and the skirt piece is an extended Marie skirt pattern and that’s it! This dress is really comfy and easy to wear with all sorts. CAUTION: if you don’t want to look like you have a big bum don’t make a dress like this!.lol

It is really nice! I love this dress- great job. I only wish I could wear dresses to work… :( And you can definitely tell that it’s the dress sticking out in the back- Marie tends to do that! But it’s such a pretty pattern that it’s so worth a little extra fabric :)

Lovely dress. I saw something in a shop that made me think that the Marie skirt would make a great dress bottom half as well. I am planning on doing something similar with black Jacquard skirt and a satin-y top with no sleeves for a more evening dress. Great stuff!
