Description

Black JJ blouse with ruffles. I narrowed the cuff and collar and attached the ruffles differently; I also made the ruffles taper at the ends so there are no corners sticking out.

Full details at my blog

Material Notes

Black cotton with a subtle woven-in stripe; pewter-look buttons.

Difficulty

Intermediate

Thanks, all! Re. the ruffles: they are not too bad, if only because booboos are not usually noticeable. I don’t cut mine on the bias (bias would be nice but I am too stingy on fabric). I finish both edges with a zig-zag rolled hem (straight rolled hem would work but is a little trickier to get perfect), then sew my gathering stitch off-centre. Arrange on the fabric (I chalk out the line where the ruffle should lie on the shirt), pin (lots), and stitch (carefully). :)

I like the little things you altered. Your JJ is one of the bests! It fits you beautifully.
