I modified the infinity dress from rostitchery. The dress is a square with a central circle cutout, a band, and two overlapping straps.
Instead of directly attaching the straps and band to the skirt, I wanted the band to be thicker and more ‘central’. I cut out two thicker bands and sewed the straps to them. I then attached one side of the band to the skirt hole and then attached the other side so that no seams are visible.
I think that this makes the dress a bit more wearable for my body.
I was also limited by the fabric I had in my stash! I couldn’t believe that I had very little black jersey and had to use a previously cut square for the skirt (the hole in the centre was large and I had to gather it) and another remnant (so the straps are shorter than Rowena suggests in her tutorial).
I did have a suggestion to cut a square out of each corner of the skirt which would add more points to the dress. What do you think?

Thanks all, for your nice comments and thoughts on the points! I hope my description of the modification works for you if you try it – let me know if you need more explanation and I’ll try to clarify.

great modifications, the extra points…. well it depends on the finished length you want, I reckon it would look good, but it looks good now too, I know that doesn’t help, sorry!

It’s beautiful. I just made an infinity shirt this week and I am loving this type of garment. So many ways to wear it!

I love the way you have the waist on your dress, I made the original design but yours looks much better. I had to make a tube top to go under mine. Im going to have to make another one now……

Oh Yeah! It looks great with the middle band! So the closure is not too low and the waist is beautiful :) About the square, I think I’d make what you suggest, because like that I believe it looks a little weird. But well, I prefer circle anyway, so I guess my advice is not the best for you!
