I have a Gala Dinner to go to and I made this dress using Burda 124B, 2/2009, to wear. The fabric is a cotton base with an organza overlay which has been machine embroidered to look like Broderie Anglais. I have read several reviews about this pattern, all saying it suits most figure types and I would think that is true. It was easy to fit and relatively simple to sew. I fully lined this dress in a cotton voile and piped the neck-line to give a nice finish as well as stopping the facing from showing. The line of daisies around the mid-drift were daisies that I removed from the left over fabric and hand sewed to the seam line.

This looks gorgeous. I’m sure it will look great on. I love the black broderie anglais. I’ve never seen that before. The neckline looks perfect.

Thanks Annie. I bought the fabric at The Fabric Store recently so you may be able to get it at their store in Melbourne.

Such gorgeous, gorgeous fabric! It suits the simple lines of the dress perfectly. I especially like how you’ve used scraps to decorate the seam line – completely matching! Enjoy the gala :)

The fabric is lovely and should be good if the night is hot and humid; hence the use of cotton voile to line the dress. I am sure the gala will be fun.

Cotton voile is so expensive where I live, considering it’s just thin plain fabric! I can only bring myself to use it in children’s garments. My own linings are always low-end synthetic stuff. For fabric this gorgeous though, I can appreciate how you made an exception!

Cotton voile isn’t cheap here either. But I get so hot in synthetic linings, I stop wearing the dress. So for me, it is worth the extra money. Cotton voile must be more expensive to make than cotton lawn!

I live on my own and there is never anyone around when I need some photos taken unfortunately. Maybe on Saturday night when I get all glammed up I can get a friend to take a few shots.

I take almost all my photos with a ridiculous tripod in my backyard! It is better when there’s someone else to take them though

I have a tripod, so maybe I should give it a go.
