This is my FIRST completed sewing project… I know it’s not perfect.. and I know that I can’t sew in a straight line.. but I’m still feeling accomplished…
Right now in San Francisco it’s not cold enough to wear a knit sweater and not hot enough to wear a short sleeve. So I made a hoodie out of a lighter fabric.
I love that business/casual look.. so this is what I came up with. Also the v-neck is a little low so I had to add a ribbon to keep the shoulders from falling off.
Tweed style stretch material
Japanese silk
Stretch knit
Ribbon
Buttons
Stretch lace trim
Tread
All gotten a discount fabric store. All of these supplies for under $10... more like $5.
Thanks to:
Burda Style for the amazing pattern
Amy S. for creating the pattern

This really is a beautiful peace.
I didn’t like the pattern at first, but after seeing yours I feel inspired.
And if you can’t sew a straight line, just say it’s intentional ^^

Super cute! I have been considering doing this pattern, but didn’t want it to be just another hooded shirt. You’ve definately inspired me!

Sunnyb64,
My only tip and trick for that is to think about what you want on the jacket before you sew it up… I had one hell of a time trying to sew that tree on because the jacket was completely finished before I even had the idea.
Same goes for the birds.. the hood fabric is really thick and I kept breaking thread when I tried to do stitching that was too small. As well as the lace on the hood…. dear god that part took forever.
At any rate…. THANK YOU ALL.. for all of your wonderful comments. It drives me to make more things!!

I was just thinking today of possibly making a hoodie with a bird and maybe a tree! And this is really cute. I like the ribbon neckline, too.
