My Home, Colorad...
My daughter just had her 4th birthday and I knew I wanted to make her some butterfly wings! I was going for a monarch butterfly. I love the way it looks with the black and white plaid of her dress! I used an older Vogue girls pattern for the bodice. Originally the pattern had buttons in the front so I adjusted the pattern for a back zipper. Also the pattern was for a top so I cut it off at the waist and added the pleated skirt. This black rosette trim has been in my stash for 2 years now and I have been waiting for a great time to use it and I found it! I wasn’t planing on the trim giving the skirt so much body but I actually really like how it turned out, it twirls very nicely.
The wings are 4 wire hangers (not so fun to reshape) and $0.33 knee highs, lots of hot glue, and the straps were hand sewn on.
She had so much fun in her dress and was running from one end of the house to the other :)
