My Home, Colorad...
Simple patterns but I love the impact. I love the colorful fabric because it reminds me of a butterfly, or an abstract painting. The black sheer has a very soft feel to it like a rayon but I have never seen a sheer rayon before, I got it off a clearance table :) I have always wanted a black cigarette pant because it reminds me of Audrey Hepburn and she is my style icon. I haven’t made a lot of pants in my life time, they are not easy to fit! I like how these turned out but I think I could probably get them to fit even better. The top was really easy, I adjusted the neck line a little to get the look I wanted under the black sheer. I used Simplicity 2599 for the top, I drafted my own pattern for the over shirt and I used the pants pattern from Sewing Vintage Modern for the pants.
The bias binding I used on the sheer over top was not easy! My fabric did not want to hold a pressing when I ironed it so it was very frustrating. I had to go very slow and fold it while I was sewing since the pressing wouldn’t hold. I do really like how the high low bias hem turned out though.
Originally I made this for my birthday back in August but forgot to post it ( I have forgotten to post several items over the last year so you should be seeing more!). So when New years came around and were only staying in with a few friends I thought this would be perfect. Then I remembered I hadn’t posted it and had my husband do a quick photo shoot before anyone arrived! He was very happy oblige :P
