I got invited to the world premiere of Filth in Edinburgh. Then I somehow forgot I had been invited and continued wasting my time doing other things like drinking rose tea and celebrating autumn. About 4 days before the premiere it suddenly dawned on me that I was going to have to go somewhere and be presentable and polite. I hadn’t brushed my hair in a few days and was feeling exceptionally misanthropic. I increased my level of misanthropy by spending an entire evening looking at expensive designer dresses on-line. My boyfriend suggested I make myself something. I told him to stop being such an idiot and that it was alright for him, being a stupid pig man, and that nobody would care what he wore anyway, because he was a stupid pig man. Then I ate something and went to sleep and when I woke up I realised that he was right.
Fortunately for me I happened to have this coat all cut out, ready to go and buried under a pile of fabric. I believe I cut out the pieces about a year and a half ago but it actually only took 3 full days to make the coat. Although I was still hemming it in the taxi on my way to the premiere. Lots of rich and famous people told me they loved my coat but by that point I had the flu and couldn’t really hear what anyone was saying. After several double rum and cokes I didn’t really care what anyone was saying either and ended my evening smoking disgusting cheap cigarettes and chatting to a homeless man on the street. All in all, the night was a great success.
