BurdaStyle 7252: Fitted skirt with welt pockets and center back pleats.
This is the very first BurdaStyle pattern I have made up, which is very exciting!
I just discovered their retro pattern line. Anything that doesn’t require downloading and taping paper together is okay with me! And I definitely like the vintage styling.
The pattern calls for a 6" zipper. I always like to give myself plenty of room to get in and out of garments, so I purchased a 9". The waistband does add significant depth to the back opening, so I probably could have worked with a 7", but in the end, I am pleased with my choice.
I took up about 3.25" in the hem. As drafted, the skirt is too short to be mid-calf length for me, so I decided to make it knee length instead. I cannot really tell from the drawing what the length is meant to be.
I am sure that I will use this pattern again – the welt pockets would look great in a contrasting color, for instance.
