For our first Millinery task this semester, we were to create a sinamay fascinator. We blocked it on a head block and then made the appropriate templates.
I was the only one to make something a bit more simple. Most of the other girls made racewear style ones, with big decorations and the like. But all i wanted was a cute little 1940’s style facinator…..With bows of course…..and black velvet!
Three layers are used, black, then a watermelon kind of colour in the middle, then black again. We made our own binding, wired the edges and hand stitched everything together :-)
Im proud, as i didnt use any hot glue on this project haha.
But the next one i made, i can’t be so proud.
Im not sure whether this is the kind of thing to post on burdastyle….? It is all hand stitched :/? does that count haha!

Really nice. I love how the layering created such a moody color. I post my hats here, and I think you should too. A lot of people will be inspired by your work. Can’t wait to see the next one!

Ok, ill take your instructions and do so! Yeh i really like the layering effect to. We all got given black to work with for our first one, and generally im really not a black person, so this was a good way to jazz it up a bit :)
