Burda Style For people who sew

Some of you may remember a couple of weeks ago I posted some not quite finished pics of my best friends wedding dress which I have been working on – on and off since June.
Well the wedding was today and I thought you may want to see the final thing on the lady herself.
The biggest change is that the bride embroidered some beaded panels which I turned into epaulettes and a cummerband for the final flourish. After all the intentions to have this finished weeks ago, I was sewing up till gone one o clock last night and my fingers were raw – I feel a bit emotionally exhausted about this now – Not sure I will do another but glad I did this and most people seemed to love it – with a couple of people who didnt know asking if it were a designer item ( which in it’s humble way I guess it is)

Charmeuse silk from Joel and son on Edgeware Road – heartstopping £79 a metre!

Sorry I just realised these pics show Dawn having pinned the front of the bust to the bra – this wasnt in the original and wasnt there for most of the day. I dont think it needed it but she stuck a rose down her cleavage at one point and I think the pin was left over!
