Purple version of Burda Style’s drape dress. My first attempt at using a Burda cut out pattern. I had a few difficulties with the size but i think it will work out ok.
I was going to wear it to a recent wedding but its not quite finished (the shoulder and zip need fitting) so it will have to wait for a good Christmas party now.
plum peachskin polyester (~3m)

this is great, looks fantastic, and a beautiful colour! :) what seam allowance would you recommend? (i hear the sizing is pretty generous!)

Hi I found the seam allowance very generous. i think on this i added the standard 5/8" but ended up taking it right into the pattern edge anyway. this is actually unfinished (i havente done the zip seam yet) and there is plently of space to take it in some more.
hope that helps

Sorry for not replying sooner. I think i made this up in size 40 which was the middle dotted line follwoing the Burda size guide. I tried to add a seam allowance too, but it tourned out way too big so i’ve been trying to take it in on my dress form. I think the smallest size is a 36 so i would recommend just using your size and not added too much seam allowance on top. You might still find its a little big.

Very nice dress! I think we all had troubles with the sizing when using a Burda pattern for the first time. How is this dress with the neckline? I was thinking about making this dress, too, but wasn’t sure if the neckline would probably be too deep!

I think the neckline probably will be too deep, but I’ll probably put a few stitches in the two bodice pieces to hold them together a little, I dont want it to be too revealing!!
