Hello Everyone :D I wanted to enter this costume designing contest because I have a strong passion for designing fun, innovative and memorable projects. When I found out that this particular contest was focused on designing Halloween costumes, I was really excited because Halloween is also my mom’s BIRTHDAY! Every year, we have a themed costume party. This year, we chose to dress up in the category of Fairy-tales. I love the Disney movie, “The Princess and the Frog” and wanted to dress up as Tiana. My family always has a high-stakes costume contest. Trust me, this is a heated contest with the winner getting to brag about their victory until her next birthday rolls around. I really want to win both of these contests, so I spent a lot of time in thought and design for this costume. I hope you all enjoy it :)
I thought it would be fun to make a costume that started out as a frog and transformed into a princess. I made the frog costume large enough to fit the entire dress inside. Once it is unzipped, the princess costume is unfurled! The Dress consists of a very full tu-tu made of light green, dark green, and glitter Tulle in cut-out leaf shapes, a gathered Chiffon bodice, Tulle puff-sleeves, and gathered glitter Tulle attached to the bottom of the bodice. I added the glitter-elastic trim as a tie around the waist, and topped it off with a faux Lily flower and leaves. The frog costume is made of a frog-print cotton fabric, elastic in the arm and leg openings, and a zipper in front (for easy unveiling of the princess costume!). The frog hat is made of rounded felt, and googly-eyes.
This was quite a fun costume to make, and I hope you see the creativity and time I put into it :D
