This is my mad hatter costume, inspired by Johnny Depp’s Mad Hatter fromTim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. I wanted to make this costume for a very long time but never had chance until BERNINA Halloween 2011 came up!
All made from scratch by me (except the jacket, bought in charity shop, but altered and decorated by me). Only reason being as I can’t do jackets yet :) Some of the fabrics I had to hand paint as I couldn’t find appropriate fabrics for this costume. :)
dark green jersey cotton (or linen, doesn’t really matter) for trousers (1 m should be plenty), white for waistcoat (0,5 m), coloured jersey cotton for the tie & pink for shirt, some lace to cover the hat, silk for the ribbon on the hat (I used 1,7 m), scraps of fabric for patch on the hat, lace for sleeves, different colour ribbons, 0,5 m of jersey for gloves, spools, A2 cardboard paper, 1 m of hard wire (or wire hanger), peacock feather, hat pins (or something which resembles them)
