I made my husband a rōnin costume (in secret!) and despite already making two Halloween costumes for myself…I had to make up a geisha costume to go along with his for a party we’re attending on the 29th.
I didn’t get the hakama pleats perfect, but apparently they are comfy! These are not accurate or authentic reproductions of what rōnin and geisha ensembles should be. They are strictly Halloween costumes, for fun.
My black kimono, white/orange obi and my husband’s obi were all vintage pieces we brought back from Japan in 2010. Everything else was made or altered (no zori or geta were available locally in our size…so I had to resort to painting flip flops!)
