This is my rendition of Bowser from Mario Brothers game. I made the shell out of foam to be worn as a back pack so it is easy to wear. The bands around the arms and neck are made from pleather and I created the spikes from silver lame and hand sewed them on the straps. I put the zipper in the front so my nephew can easily go to the bathroom by himself and covered the zipper with the lighter color belly that has velcro closures. The tail was hand stitched to the “behind”. I created the pattern for all the spikes and hand stitched them as well as the orange rings together. They were glued to the shell and hand stitched to the hood. I sewed the hood onto the costume so it is one less thing to loose. I used the Simplicity 2855 as the base of the costume.
My grandson, with much prompting, modeled the costume which is for my 5 year old nephew.
fleece in yellow, green, white and orange, fiber fill, cardboard, cotton/poly blend fabric, feather boa, silver lame, black pleather, clear elastic and upholstery foam
